Best of Both Worlds

Day One

Wake up early and make your way to Bloomington’s premier weekend destination, the Mall of America. This shopping center is the largest fully enclosed entertainment complex in the U.S, boasting over 520 stores, a theme park, a movie theater, an aquarium and much more. Still, shopping is the primary draw at the MOA, and guests are sure to be impressed by the selection. Burberry, Sephora, American Girl, Apple Store, Brookstone, True Religion and a Lego’s Megastore all call the Mall of America home, so stop by for a day filled with exciting entertainment and, of course, plenty of shopping!

Evening The area around the Mall of America is home to many wonderful dining and nightlife options, including Twin City Grill, Kincaid’s and Oak City. Stay for a delicious meal, and perhaps a drink or two, after your action-packed retail expedition.

Day Two

The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is the perfect place to spend some time enjoying nature during your trip to Bloomington. This beautiful national park is home to miles of well-kept biking and hiking trails, so be sure to wear your walking shoes. The refuge is also known as a prime bird-watching area, and you’ll see a myriad of different winged residents along the way. When you need a break, stop and enjoy a picnic or head into town and try Davanni’s Pizza and Hoagies, which is sure to fill you up! Before leaving the park, make time to check out the interpretive center where you can see interesting exhibits and programs focusing on area wildlife.

Evening After a day of hiking and biking, a hearty meal is just the ticket. The Bloomington area is home to plenty of casual American eateries where everyone feels welcome and no one leaves with an empty stomach. Try Via, which offers a beautiful outdoor dining area, or sample some delicious seafood at Bubbagump Shrimp. Whether it’s a juicy steak or a casual pub burger, our local restaurants have it!
