Minnesota Hockey - Minnesota Saints PowerHockey

The Minnesota Saints PowerHockey team has brought the excitement of wheelchair hockey to Minnesota for much of the past decade. Already this Minnesota Hockey team has made three trips to the PowerHockey Cup tournament — in 2001, 2004 and again in 2006. During its most recent visit to PowerHockey Cup competition, held in Calgary, the Minnesota Saints placed fourth.

The Minnesota Saints are one of only two Minnesota Hockey teams; the other is the Minnesota Stars. Both teams belong to the U.S. Electric Wheelchair Hockey Association (U. S. EWHA). All members of the Minnesota Saints also play for wheelchair hockey teams in the Minnesota PowerHockey League.

The adaptive sport of PowerHockeyâ„¢ is open to males and females who use power wheelchairs during their daily lives. PowerHockey rules follow regular hockey rules, but are modified to fit the needs of electric wheelchair users. The sport is usually played on a basketball court.
