William O’Brien State Park invites Minnesota travelers to enjoy a refreshing escape from big-city life only an hour away from the Bloomington-Twin Cities metro area. Located along the St. Croix River on land formerly belonging to lumber companies, William O’Brien State Park offers a variety of recreational opportunities to nature-lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Highlights of William O’Brien State Park include canoeing on the St. Croix River, fishing for walleye and bass, and swimming at a Lake Alice beach. In addition, William O’Brien State Park is home to 12 miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails sure to please beginners and experts alike. The 1,520-acre Minnesota State Park also offers excellent bird watching along a migratory flyway, colorful wildflowers and year-round naturalist programs.
