Located on Lake Harriet, the garden promotes quiet, contemplative time away from the hustle and bustle of an urban environment. Meticulously cared for, the garden features more than 4000 plants and 250 species. Two fountains border the garden; the bronze-and-marble Hefflefinger Fountain is from the Villa Montalto near Florence, Italy. Rock gardens and perennial gardens are also featured.

  BLOOMINGTON. This federally managed nature preserve offers sanctuary for a range of migrating birds and waterfowl. The refuge features an excellent interpretive center offering programs and exhibits dedicated to the natural history of the Minnesota River area. As part of the Minnesota Valley Recreation Area, which is itself part of the Minnesota State Parks system, the refuge features cross-country skiing, hiking, and biking on trails that feature bird-watching sites and picnic grounds.

  SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS. This unique, non-profit museum maintains continuous exhibits focusing on art created during the Soviet reign between 1922 and 1991. Many of these rare paintings are pulled from the private collection of the museum's founder, Raymond E. Johnson, who possesses what may be the most extensive privately-owned collection of Russian Realist paintings outside of Russia. In addition to Johnson's personal acquisitions, TMORA has also shown pieces on loan from Moscow's Tretyakov Gallery and from the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Museum at Rutgers.
