The Bloomington Convention & Visitors Bureau (“BCVB”) respects the privacy and confidentiality of individuals who visit the BCVB web site located at www.bloomingtonmn.org (“the BCVB Website”). The BCVB maintains this Privacy Policy to help you understand the commitment of BCVB to safeguard the privacy of the information you provide to the BCVB on the BCVB Website. This Privacy Policy outlines the information which BCVB will collect from you on the BCVB Website and how BCVB will use that information.

Collection of Your Personal Information by BCVB: When you engage in certain activities on the BCVB Website, such as signing up to receive our newsletter, purchasing products on the BCVB Website, or providing feedback on the BCVB Website, we may ask you to provide personal and other information. The BCVB’s mission is to provide you with personalized services and offerings designed to enhance your Bloomington, Minnesota, experience. To do so effectively, BCVB collects the following information:

(a) Personally Identifiable Information: BCVB, through the use of the BCVB Website, only collects personally identifiable information about you when you voluntarily provide such personally identifiable information to BCVB using the BCVB Website. In order to engage in some of the activities on the BCVB Website, you will be required to provide information that lets us know the specifics of who you are, such as your first name, last name, mailing address, zip code, e-mail address, travel information, credit card and other information. It is optional for you to engage in these activities. Depending upon the activity, some of the information we ask you to provide is identified as mandatory and some is voluntary. If you do not provide the mandatory data with respect to a particular activity, you will not be able to engage in that activity or you limit your ability to use all or a portion of the BCVB Website. If you do not wish your personally identifiable information to be collected, please do not submit it.

(b) Information from the Use of “Cookies”: The BCVB Website employs “cookie” technology. Cookies are small pieces of data stored in files on your computer allowing the BCVB Website to track your use of the BCVB Website as you visit and revisit the BCVB Website. The use of cookies by the BCVB Website complies with generally accepted programming standards and practices. Please note that you can choose to block the use of cookies through settings in your web browser but be advised that certain features of the BCVB Website may not work properly without them.

Use of Your Information by BCVB: It is the policy of the BCVB not to sell, share, transfer, or rent to third parties any information you provide to the BCVB, through the use of the BCVB Website, without your written consent except as required by operation of the law or in compliance with legal authorities; provided, however the BCVB may share your personal information with certain third parties (“Target Third Parties”) without your written consent in order to further the purpose for which you voluntarily provide the BCVB with the information. Additionally, the BCVB engages third party information management service providers to help maintain efficient operations. Since such information management service providers may access our systems, such information management service providers may have access to your information. The BCVB does not transfer or relinquish ownership of information maintained about you within BCVB systems and databases to such information management service providers but requires these information management service providers to sign confidentiality agreements to keep all confidential information and other proprietary information found in our systems confidential.

The BCVB routinely collects, compiles, and reports statistics and information reflecting the use of the BCVB Website and information services in order to enhance membership services, advertising services, improve marketing and promotional efforts, analyze BCVB Website usage, improve the BCVB Website’s content and layout, generate aggregate reports on trends, interests and behavior and enhance service offerings.

The BCVB reserves the right to take any action the BCVB deems prudent or necessary to safeguard the BCVB Website and your information in the BCVB systems and databases from malicious or unwarranted attack by viruses, hackers, or other miscreants.

Collection and Use of Your Information by Third Parties: Please note that third parties offer goods and services on and through the BCVB Website. We assume each such third party has its own internal privacy policy and data collection and use practices. The BCVB does not have any responsibility for their practices. You should review the privacy policy and data collection and use practices prior to submitting information to such third parties.

Further to third parties offering goods and services, we may have functionality on the BCVB Website that is provided, in whole or in part, by a third party service provider. You can usually identify such third party functionality by the use of a trademark not owned by us on or otherwise provided near the functionality. In that case, when you use the functionality, you become subject to the terms of use and privacy policy of this third party in addition to the Privacy Policy of the BCVB Website. In some cases, you may need to visit that party’s web site and locate the terms of use and privacy policy.

Changing and Deleting Your Personal Information: At any time, you may request the BCVB change or delete your personal information in BCVB systems and databases by submitting a detailed description of the desired action to the following e-mail address: info@bloomingtonmn.org. Please note that after the BCVB processes a change or deletes your personal information from active BCVB systems and databases, it is possible that non-active residual copies of your information may still exist in BCVB's systems and on archive or backup media. It is our policy to securely maintain your information until you instruct us otherwise.

Your Consent By using the BCVB Website, you consent to the collection and use of the above-described information by BCVB (and Target Third Parties, in which case, once such Target Third Party is in possession of your information, we cannot control such Target Third Party’s use of your information). If you do not agree with the terms and conditions stated in this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the BCVB Website.

Electronic Newsletters: We offer free, electronic newsletters, updates and e-mail reminders as a service to our registrants, based upon your voluntary subscription. You will only receive an electronic newsletter if you have requested it (opted-in) an d provided us with your email address. We use your email address to send electronic newsletters, but do not share our mailing lists with any third parties, including advertisers or partners.

Control of your Password: You are required to control the security of your password. We are not responsible for any damages arising out of the loss or misuse of your passwords. If you have forgotten your password, please go to the appropriate page and enter your e-mail in the appropriate box and resubmit it. Your password will be e-mailed to you shortly thereafter. Note that we will never ask for your password in an unsolicited phone call or e-mail.
