1 Post Rd Junction of Hwys 5 & 55, one mile east St. Paul, MN 55111 US - +1-612-726-1171

FORT SNELLING. Built in the 1820s, this fort had as its dual original purposes the promotion of the American fur trade and the keeping of the peace on the frontier in the years before white settlement was allowed. Although much of the fort has been reconstructed, several original buildings remain. Today, visitors can explore the old fortress and meet a variety of costumed characters from the 1820s. Regular cannon firings, drills, craft demonstrations, cooking and children's activities are presented. Fort Snelling State Park, adjacent to the restored fort, offers a variety of recreational activities.

SOUTHWEST MINNEAPOLIS. Encompassing several horticultural areas, this space is well-known locally for its rose garden, the nation's second-oldest municipal rose garden. Located on Lake Harriet, the garden promotes quiet, contemplative time away from the hustle and bustle of an urban environment. Meticulously cared for, the garden features more than 4000 plants and 250 species. Two fountains border the garden; the bronze-and-marble Hefflefinger Fountain is from the Villa Montalto near Florence, Italy. Rock gardens and perennial gardens are also featured.

Plenty of tables and shelters, a tennis court, a recreation building, and horseshoe pits are available. 5500 Stevens Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55419 US - +1-612-821-9045

SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS. This unique, non-profit museum maintains continuous exhibits focusing on art created during the Soviet reign between 1922 and 1991. Many of these rare paintings are pulled from the private collection of the museum's founder, Raymond E. Johnson, who possesses what may be the most extensive privately-owned collection of Russian Realist paintings outside of Russia. In addition to Johnson's personal acquisitions, TMORA has also shown pieces on loan from Moscow's Tretyakov Gallery and from the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Museum at Rutgers.
