Let me start by saying the staff is very nice here.
I would give them/staff five stars.
The hotel smells.
It HAD a nice gym but the gym is tired, there’s no cleaning wipes in the gym. Did I mention the hallways smell? The elevator smelled like a hobo lives in it.

It’s just a tired building. Just an overall vibe of management, not of paying attention to the details of what makes a home away from home.

It’s a two-star situation with a great staff and comfortable beds.

Excellent hotel in so many ways. Our room was very clean, new looking and fresh. However it was the staff that set this hotel above so many. Kimberly, our bar tender was amazing. She made great drinks and had a very welcoming, fun atmosphere at her bar. The food there was really great too. I had the chicken breast sandwich with a side salad and my husband had a Rueben sandwich with a salad and both were excellent. ||AJ at the front desk was so friendly, helpful and professional. He could instruct other hotel front desk clerks how to make guests feel welcome.||We really enjoyed our stay here. It is a nice walk to the Mall of America and back. Great location close to where we landed our plane at KMSP. We hope to come back to this great Crown Plaza.

I have mixed feelings about my stay. The hotel was nice enough; it felt partially updated and clean, but it wasn’t the level of comfortable luxury that I used to equate with Crowne Plaza hotels. You need a key card to access the rooms, which made it a little difficult for friends visiting (versus other hotels). The free shuttle was a nice bonus and the front desk employees were so nice! Bed was comfy. My main complaint is housekeeping. I appreciate daily service since most hotels stopped doing that after COVID, but the housekeeping lady would knock on my door until I physically unlocked it to speak with her. I used the top lock, so you could crack the door open still, and I know she could hear me yelling for her to skip service (the “do not disturb” sign was flimsy and fell off constantly). I could hear my TV at low volume outside the door, no way she didn’t hear me telling her to go away. I was in bed, enjoying my privacy, and felt completely uncomfortable with her insistence. She did not give up until I got dressed and came to the door. Also, overnight, there were random beeping noises and unusual sounds (creaking noises, TV clicking, etc). I’m sure there’s some explanation, but if I believed in ghosts like my mother, we would have been moving rooms or hotels! The tub drained abnormally slow, as another review mentioned, but it wasn’t a problem for me since I took short showers. All in all, YMMV, but I will pick a different hotel for my next stay in Minneapolis.

Things I like: it has a jacuzzi in the pool area. Kids aren’t allowed in the jacuzzi, according to the sign. The airplane decor is neat. It’s close to MOA. Comfy bed. Pool area open until 11 pm.

Things I did not like: $10/night for parking. Just add it to the room fee. I was using my rewards points, I would have used a few more to cover this.
It’s in need of repair. Many pictures fallen off of walls and just leaned against the wall.

#1 issue – I ordered food around 11 pm on Fri night. We were so hungry.
The delivery driver brought the food in and set it on the counter. The front desk person asked if there was a room number. Driver said ‘no’ and left.
My hot food sat for more than 30 minutes until I called the restaurant to politely inquire into the status. He let me know it was delivered, I let him know I had no idea as the driver didn’t call me as they said he would.

Now, I realize the front desk person isn’t technically to blame here. However, my name, number, and room number was on the outside of the food packaging. He could have easily called my room. When I brought this up to the morning front desk person, he said it’s their policy to not handle my food.Right, fine, it didn’t take any touching to simply look at the obvious label. It would have taken him no time and my super hungry family could have had a hot meal, instead of a rubbery cold one. In the hospitality industry, what sets one place apart from another is their ability to go above and beyond. Crowne did not do that for our family.

Booked a room for our child’s birthday. They were so accommodating as far as allowing us to use the pool and hot tub area for a bevy of children. They had so much fun and want to do it again next year! The only negative was that the water in the pool was just changed out and was pretty cold, but the kids just took turns hopping into the hot tub to warm up.

When traveling to the Twin Cities, enjoy your stay at the closest Crowne Plaza to Mall of America and Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.
