Exceptional museum. It was such a nice surprise to have the elevator ride / tour and the view from the top. The guides were eager to provide interesting facts and tidbits while you stroll the exhibit. We even had free snacks at the test kitchen. A must visit when staying in Minneapolis.
I had such a great time at this museum! The elevator tower experience was so cool and informative! It was fun to see all the trinkets in display cases and the vintage ads on tv too. The views from the top floor are incredible. There are also a ton of interactive puzzles and labs to play with. Highly recommend visiting this historical landmark if you’re in the Twin Cities!
Cool little gem of a museum. We enjoyed learning about Minneapolis and its role in the flour (and baking/food industry). Neat tour concept…not a walking tour but an elevator tour. Great views of the river. Stopped by the Guthrie theatre, too, afterwards.
Neat experience of what was once Minneapolis’ main industry! The elevator tour is very interesting, and the ticket price is reasonable.
Only issue was the political apology made on the signs as well as by the tour guide emphasizing the “stolen land” that the mill was built on.
*****Also, note, if you park in the garage across the street from the mill, take your ticket with you. You need it to get back into the garage. There are no signs saying this, and we got locked out.*******
Lucked up with a guided tour for $20. Fred was a delight! I loved everything about the tour. I felt the museum itself was on the same level as one of the Smithsonians in DC.
A lovely way to spend an hour or two exploring the remnants of what made Minneapolis a city today. The museum experience is well curated and designed. The roof top observation deck offers a great view of the St Anthony’s Falls and across the riverbank.
Staffs are friendly and approachable.
This place used to be a flour mill, reflecting the state’s rich wheat production. Although a devastating fire once burned the mill to the ground, much of the company’s history and culture has been preserved. An elevator-style tour takes you through the company’s legacy, and when you reach the top, the view of the Mississippi River is absolutely breathtaking! 🤩
Homeschool co-op field trip
This is my favorite field trip I have ever taken, including my own childhood. The sessions are informative and educational while also being very engaging and keeping everyone’s attention. The elevator was an immersive way to present information and interviews. The water lab was an amazing hands-on lesson in why water played such an important role in the history of Minneapolis. The baking session let the kids grind their own flour and explained the role of flour in our lives.
Their gallery is exceptional. Interactive, informative, amazing. I am so glad this piece of history remains standing.
