This was a nice change of pace from the traditional Mexican restaurants. They are labeled as “Modern Mexican” on their marquee. They have a different take on the traditional food of Mexico. Very good food at not so expensive pricing. Our waiter was extremely polite and prompt. Wonderful sit down atmosphere.
Really enjoyed the salsa and the food had good flavor, but the service was lacking. I shouldn’t have to ask for a drink refill. Our server took extremely long to even come to our table after we sat down. The place wasn’t crazy busy either. If you are in any sort of rush, then don’t eat here.
It is a nice atmosphere and we sat just outside of the restaurant. It’s a good take on modern mexican food but the food can use more seasoning and flavor. I was expecting more veggies inside the food mixed, but there was none. I only had a chicken wrapped with cheese on top with some rice and beans on the side. Veggies like lettuce or tomatoes would make a whole difference. The brownie cake ice cream was creative. I thought it was too sweet with all the chocolate and ice cream. It would be better if the brownie cake part was less sweeter, since the ice cream is also sweet, 3/5
The Mall of America is a fun place to visit, the food choices are rough though. Cantina Laredo seemed like one of the better options. Service was good, the menu was clearly designed by someone who knew what they were doing. But I don’t think I’ve ever had such interesting sounding options, with such a glaring lack of seasoning. Very fresh takes on Latin cuisine, but not a salt shaker or chili pepper in the kitchen. Drinks were super boring. Guacamole was nice, but as becoming obvious could use some salt, or acidity. All in all given the dining options at the mall, definitely could do worse but this place is a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lime from being solid.
I loved everything at this restaurant. The food was wonderful. The staff friendly and attentive. I ordered the traditional tacos and asked for flour tortillas instead of hard shells.
It was a great experience.
Cinco de Mayo 2024. Went here for lunch at noon and it was not busy. There were 6 of us and we were seated at a table with plenty of room. I got the traditional tacos with rice and beans. The tacos were hard shell with ground beef, lettuce, tomato and shredded cheese. The meat could use more spices and some sour cream but were quite good. We also got the chicken enchiladas which were very meaty but again they needed some more spices.
The food was good (a little cold)
The manager was amazing. Very friendly and accommodating
Our waitress Claudia was horrible. Never smiled, was very curt not accommodating or even pleasant. We asked for things that took a long time to get, if they ever showed up at all.

For context, I am Mexican and have lived most of my life in California and Texas, soI was skeptical about going to a Mexican Restaurant at the mall, but the food and service was excellent.
You can get a taco or burrito anywhere, but the house specialties were incredible. We ordered the skirt steak with the chile relleno and mole chicken. They were incredible! We also got a watermelon margarita and I want to say it was one of my favorite ones of all time; the fresh watermelon juice was the game changer. We also got the mango tres leches, which was unique and good. I’m not big on desserts, but enjoyed the mango flavors.
We’ll be returning for more steak and watermelon margaritas in the future
