Chevys Fresh Mex

We arrived around 3:10pm on a Saturday. Wasn’t very busy when we walked in. Host seated us at what appeared to be a clean table. As we were sitting down, an employee clearing the table next to ours starts arguing with the host that our table was not clean and not to sit us there. The host seemed confused as this table appeared to be clean. They continued to argue in Spanish for a moment before going their own ways. We sat there for nearly 10 minutes before our waitress stopped at our table and dropped off napkins for our yet to be ordered drinks. She said she would be right back to get our drink order. Nearly 5 minutes later she returned to take our drink order, but we were also very ready to order our food. For our drinks, my wife asked for a water and my daughter and I ordered Pepsi. She brought back two waters and one Pepsi. She apologized and grabbed another Pepsi. After we got our drinks, we received our complimentary chips & salsa. Seems like something we should have gotten shortly after being seated. Food came out quickly and was amazing although very overpriced. We were here about 10 years ago and had an amazing experience. Sadly the place seems to have declined and probably will not return any time soon.

Chevys is located across the mall of America and close to hotels in the area. They happened to be one of the only places opened around the mall on New Years Eve evening. We were in a time crunch to eat before an escape room scheduled at 10:00pm back in the mall. Mexican food, love their chips and salsa, it was happy hour so half off on appetizers and I love their flautas and their sweet sauce. Our server was super friendly and nice and got us in and out in our time frame. They had TVs by the bar and they were showing football instead of basketball. But easy parking and very family friendly.

Fantastic (and HUGE) margaritas 🍹 like it was the size of my head but so flipping good – I got a strawberry margarita and was definitely tipsy by the time I finished it.

Bomb chips and salsa, flavorful smother burritos and excellent fajita plates too. The veggies were fresh and crisp, the rice was packed with flavor and so were the black beans! Meat was juicy and cooked perfectly 🥰

I’ve been coming here for 25 plus years and the food here never disappoints it’s always really really good especially for Minnesota and after having lived in Texas for more than 10 years and having a place like this matching up to the food that you can get in Texas it’s very very difficult.

Our server was awesome shout out to Gina ,she was busy but didn’t forget us it was a Wednesday so it was busy btw kids eat free Wednesday. I ordered the three amigos flavorful seasonings were on point. My husband had the sampler . We both agreed lots of flavor in the food.

Pretty nice place near to the airport to stop and getting some good tacos , the only bad they didn’t have soft corn tortillas with the tacos but everything else was good , excellent service , out waiter was very nice.

I was waiting for my friend to pick me up from the bus station @ MOA and looked up a place for takeout…

Good food and great service. Weather was nice so we sat outside for lunch. The fajitas were very tasty. We ordered guacamole for an appetizer, and they make it fresh to order table side.
