Northstar Tavern

Sammy, the 3 year old American Hairless Terrier, had his first restaurant experience tonight. They brought him (and his 2 humans) a cold water where we sat in the outdoor patio. Nice umbrellas over each table. The staff paid special attention to Sammy, but that’s everywhere he goes. He’s cute and unique. This place didn’t know it was Sammy’s first restaurant experience, but they and their patrons sure were pleasant and kind.

Your dog only has about a 3 foot radius of room, so they gotta be chill. Sammy probably couldn’t go here without some maturity and a good attentive handler. They are a naturally very energetic breed. The people who sat next to us didn’t have dogs, but they were dog friendly people. Very cool.

The fried foods we ate were not our best decisions. Walleye bites (thin and heavily breaded) and the Fish and Chips (substitute zucchini bites for “chips” – they were not exactly ripe). Nevertheless, having a good experience with the dog made up for it. (No offense to the cook, lol.) Next time, I’ll try a healthier option and not regret the fried foods.

The best part was my side house salad of mixed greens with a maple vinaigrette. The dressing was the best flavor of the night!

First time here was a recommendation through skymiles dining. Food was very gd had the spinach dip and pulled pork sandwich and these little pork bites to share actually shared all with out of town guest you get one side with the sandwich we chose ceasar salad. Many tvs viewable all around. Pulltabs are avail as well as a little game box which i have not tried yet.

People talked it up, and had high expectations… unfortunately did not live up 😕. The best thing we had was the cry baby cauliflower. It was very good.
However, 3 of the 4 burgers were dry and overcooked. The dilly burger did not really have the punch they described. The bacon jam came across flat. The Northstar burger was actually good and properly cooked.
In general our group felt the meat just didn’t measure up.
The beer list was good however and the cocktail list was solid. Maybe a better place for Happy hour drinks and apps.
It was quite busy, and the service was slow (though we did have a reservation, and tables were turning pretty quick).
Maybe should go back and try the pizza, as maybe that is there better part of the menu🤔
Might go back, to give a second chance.

Went in at around 5:30 on a Sunday. it was the perfect amount of busy, a little background chatter but not enough to interfere with a conversation.

Plenty of TVs to watch the game.

As we were figuring out what to order, another table’s order was brought out near us and looked delicious, we asked our server what they got and she said they were the nachos so we ordered that immediately. It was the perfect size to share between 3 people.

Our server was super great, she was attentive and very friendly, cracking jokes with us about my lack of spice tolerance (they’re very accommodating if you want the spicy stuff on the side).

I can’t recall the name of what I got but it was a delicious burger! It was perfect. I chose zucchini fries as my side because our server recommended it, they were good but a bit salty.

The people I dined with said they enjoyed their meal very much, not a bad thing to say. The only problem was they couldn’t finish it all!

Northstar Tavern is a go-to for catching a game. The big-screen TVs make it easy to see from anywhere, and the variety on the menu never disappoints. Whether I’m there alone or with friends, the food always hits the spot. It’s a place to go relax.

My daughter and I went out to a quick dinner on a Friday night. She got the nachos ( and fixings on the side) and I got the smash burger with the sweet potato tots. There was a generous amount of nachos in fact she took more than half of it home. They were super light and crispy which she has never had before. The smashburger that I had was phenomenal the sweet potato tots were on point. Since my daughter is by choice gluten free ( not celiacs) she ordered the chocolate cake as well..while it was good it did have a slightly unusual back end flavor which she didn’t care for. The cake was still good in my option. Our service was great as well.im sure we will be back.

I’m a solo diner, and the bar service is always phenomenal. Despite the mad dash along the line to get drinks to tables and those of us belly up, the bartenders always take good care of everyone. The food is always phenomenal, especially their burgers, and they have some killer fries and cheese curds. Definitely worth a visit, or two, or 5.
